What is the location?
The new home for Centerpoint Church will be located in the previous movie theater in Shawnee Square shopping mall. The current space is occupied by The Hair Academy.
Why did we choose Shawnee Square?
Our desire has always been to be a church in the city, for the city. The doors God has opened for us to launch a campus in the heart of our city is beyond what we could have ever dreamed or imagined. At our Chillicothe Campus, we believe God will draw people from every walk of life. We are excited for the opportunity to help revitalize this forgotten part of our city.
Why is this location the best solution to accelerate our vision and mission?
Our new location will be easily accessible from US HWY 35 & US HWY 23. This supports our vision to reach as many people as we possibly can by being directly accessible from two major highways. It also give us the chance to give hope once lost new meaning and new life right here in the heart of our city. We’re all about changing the name of this city and revitalizing what has been deemed broken. It is our goal, through the permanent planting of this church right in Shawnee Square, to bring hope and life to a forgotten part of our city that we love so dearly.
Are we buying or leasing?
A lot of thoughtful guidance, prayer, and professional counsel was sought in making the decision on whether to buy or lease. Leasing gives us the opportunity to design the building to fit our needs as a growing church so we can dynamically chase the vision God has called us to accomplish. It also enables us to enjoy the freedom from maintenance responsibilities, have access to other rental facilities, and have additional monies available for ministry and future Centerpoint campuses. God has called us to reach the forgotten cities of our state, and this allows us to chase after that calling through being careful and strategic with our finances.
Why is this option the best stewardship of what God has entrusted to us?
From a financial standpoint, using an existing facility is the most cost-effective approach. Building or renovating a space will be an investment in our community. By retooling a facility, we will be able to utilize the components already in place. In comparison, a comparable facility would cost us $4.5 million if we were to build new excluding the cost of land.
When will this project be completed?
It is our expectation to be moved into our new home in 2018. We anticipate being able to provide a more specific timeline in the months to come.
What are the main elements of this project that will amaze our community?
At Centerpoint, we’ve always prided ourselves in excellence and careful attention to detail. Our new facility will be no exception. Everything you love about Centerpoint Church isn’t going anywhere. The warm cup of coffee, the friendly smiles, the heartfelt worship, and the challenging message - it’s all going to stay. However, some things will change, but for the better. Envision a worship space with comfortable seating, permanent versatile classrooms for Kidspoint and Centerpoint Youth, and a warm welcoming lobby space with the familiar feeling that you’ve always encountered at Centerpoint. Imagine a building that could be used without time or space constraints. It would serve as a home that could be used for more ministry beyond Sunday morning.
How much will this project cost?
The overall scope of the Shawnee Square renovation project will be within the parameters and budget we outlined during the launch of the No Limits campaign in November 2015. The goal of No Limits was to raise an additional $750,000 by the end of 2017 to secure our next home.
How does the money given to No Limits help to make this possible?
The first year of our No Limits campaign has been nothing short of amazing. As our church has stepped out in faith and rallied behind the vision, we have seen more life change in our community. Through the generosity of this church, we’ve been able to financially position ourselves to be ready to negotiate a contract for our project. In the meantime, we’ve been able to save No Limits campaign dollars as well as hire a reputable church architect who will oversee the renovation project.
Does this mean that the No Limits campaign is now complete?
Actually, we’re just getting started! The vision for Centerpoint doesn’t stop when we sign a lease or have our first Weekend Experience in our new home. There are more people to reach and more cities to love on.
If you made a financial commitment during the launch of No Limits, now is the time to keep stepping out in faith and finishing that commitment. If you have already completed your commitment - thank you so much! We invite you to consider generously giving as Jesus leads and you are able.
What if I am led or feel compelled to give? How do I do that?
If you are interested in playing your part to support the vision of our next home, you are more than welcome! Giving is easy and can be done online. Simply designate for your donation to go toward the No Limits campaign.
